Keyword Research for Bloggers
Content is a king who definitely needs his queen- keywords.
Before you write that next blog post spend a bit of time doing some
keyword research.
Keyword research involves researching the keywords and keyword phrases that potential visitors might use in the search engines that would lead them to your blog.
Keyword research is a vital aspect of search engine optimization.
Some will tell you that Google’s Keyword Tool is all you need for keyword research, but I’ve always used Wordtracker’s Free keyword suggestion tool for my keyword research.
By inputting your proposed keywords and keyword phrases into Wordtracker’s research tool, you can quickly learn how many users are conducting searches for the term or phrase you entered.
Just recently I installed SEO Blogger from Wordtracker.
SEO Blogger from Wordtracker is a free Firefox plugin that provides a mini version of the Wordtracker keyword research tool. It works right along side of WordPress by telling you how many times you have used a keyword or key phrase in your post. (Great tool!)
When conducting keyword research focus more on keyword phrases. Look at the keyword phrases that get some search volume, but aren’t overly competitive.
Tip: Be sure to put the keyword or keyword phrase you want to rank for in the blog post title, in the beginning of the post and 2-3 times throughout the body of the post.
Sometimes a title can be a keyword phrase itself.

Search Meter plugin for WordPress is a great plugin, because it helps keep track of what your blog visitors are searching for in the search box on your blog.
Discover the keywords and keyword phrases you want your blog to rank for in the search engines and start driving traffic to your blog.
Don’t forget to check your Google Analytic logs to see what terms visitors are already using to find your blog.

I think about keywords when I write my posts, especially when it’s for a product or something I think others may enjoy, but I haven’t truly worked at adding keywords to my posts. I have started adding some in the SEO plug-in and changing my post’s meta tag [is that right] so it’s not necessarily the same as my post title. For instance, my Naked Juice post is titled “Get Healthy ~ Get Naked”, but if you look at how the page shoes in your tabs or [in Firefox it shows at the top of the window] it says “Thoughts on Naked Juice”. Not sure if this makes for a better return on visitors, but I’m playing around with it.
I’ll be sure to check out the keyword tools you listed, since the broken link checkers were quite helpful.

Thanks to posts like this one I think I’m starting to get what keywords are.
Keywords are probably something I’ll look into more as my site progresses.
And because of your post I did bookmark the Google and Wordtracker keyword search tool sites.
So, thanks Rose..
