I’m still struggling to get my head around this entire Google PageRank thing. In the past when PR matter to me I followed all my own advice with regards to increasing my PageRank.
I submitted my articles to article directories. I included my link in my forum signature. I submitted my blog to blog directories and thus my PageRank did not increase. What could I be doing wrong? We all know that Pagerank is based on inbound links.
I have 194 incoming linking to rosedesrochers.todays-woman.net in Google. My PR is a 3. Another blog I frequently visit has only 40 backlinks in Google and his PR is a 5.
So if it’s true that Backlinks play a very big role in Google’s PageRank algorithm why is it that my PageRank is less than the person with fewer backlinks.
What has the most success? I’m guessing our content.
If you get more people linking to your blog posts Google understands that your blog is highly informative and counts each incoming link as a vote.
So could Google ranking work in the same way Technorati ranking does?
To be an “A list blogger,” the elite of the blogosphere you need 500 or more blogs linking to your blog in the last 6 months.
I’m guessing Google works in much the same way. Google tracks the backlinks to your blog. The more backlinks over a given period, the better your PageRank may be. Again, this is just a guest.
So my assumption would be if you take your time, write useful content that other bloggers will want to link to this will thus generate more traffic, more Technorati authority, and may even increase your PR.
Keep in mind though, that Google PageRank is not the same thing, as your site’s ranking on the search engine results pages. There are still a number of bloggers that confuse keyword ranking with PageRank.
We could spend all day obsessing over and trying to get our head around PageRank and still come out none the wiser.
After-all it was Google that said “Don’t worry. In fact, don’t bother thinking about it.”
At the end of the day, I could live without PageRank. ( Google needs to do away with it.)
So why does Google put a number on us anyway?
A 3? Pffft, I thought I was a 10.

I don’t get it myself. I have a PR2 on a few of my blogs yet some others have 1 or 0 and I would think they are better [or would rank better]. I can’t worry too much about it as I have too many other things to think about. It’s enough to make the head spin.

That’s for sure. I’m done with PR posts. Next topic of discussion.

Hey Rose!
You got great content don’t worry about PageRank. Although I will admit it can get addicting looking at all the rankings out there. Alexa Ranking, Google Ranking, Technorati. Do they put all these rankings out there to drive us crazy? I don’t know probably. Because it all can drive you crazy. You can get totally obsessed with checking page ranking and does it matter? I don’t know. Well just keep up the great work!
I gotta run. I have a PRA (Page Ranking Anonymous) Meeting to go to.

Jim the first step to overcoming PR addiction is admitting you have a problem.

You are a “10″ in my book Rose!
Your points only help to prove my theory that the “quality” of the link is more important than the “quantity” of links.
I have a site that is a PR1 that has 3500 links….

I am also looking for a good PR. But still it “0″. Hope, it will change soon
. And while I read your post I saw the line “I have 194 incoming linking to rosedesrochers.todays-woman.net in Google. My PR is a 3.” In my WEB browser I add two PR checking addons and both of them showing your this Blog/WEb not in PR list. Do you have any idea why your PR get low from PR 3. Any way your blog contents are good to read. I read some of them. They are valuable.
Thanks.
