Strange December Holidays- Give me Chocolate

December 28th, 2009 by Rose DesRochers · 30 Comments

When we think of the month of December we think of Christmas and New Years Eve. We don’t give much thought to these other December holidays.

For example: December 28th is Card Playing Day, No interruptions day and National Chocolate Day.

It is still unclear if December 28th is National Chocolate Day or if Chocolate day is celebrated on October 28th. (Maybe there is two days?) I think I’ll indulge myself with chocolate on both days.

So: No interruptions please while I play some cards and stuff my face with chocolate.

Chocolate

Santa visited me & my husband and brought a lot of chocolate. ( It was actually a gift from my son.)

Go ahead, enjoy your chocolate fix. I know I will!

“All I really need is love, but a little chocolate now and then doesn’t hurt!”-Charles Schulz

I am a serious chocoholic. But chocolate isn’t better than sex. What’s good is a chocolate covered significant other.

What’s your favorite chocolate?

You have a national chocolate day, and it’s a holiday? Man that is really extreme.

@Rose DesRochers: LOL. I reckon you Yanks have way too many holidays. No wonder your poor businesses are struggling to make a buck, unless they sell chocolates that is ;)

lol, love chocolate. National Chocolate Day? Who would’ve thought. You gotta try Peanut Butter Company’s Dark Chocolate Dreams which you can get at Wal-Mart! Love it and its all natural Peanut Butter, my favorite.

I’m not prejudiced — I like all kinds of chocolate. I do think that dark chocolate covered things suit me best tho. Ah, there are more chocolate holidays coming:
    Jan 10 Bittersweet Chocolate Day
    Jan 27 Chocolate Cake Day
    (just to name a few)

Maybe I should covers these in the Daily Twitamin!

Yeah, but you forgot THE holiday of December 28, Stan Lee’s birthday! Who’s Stan Lee? Only the co-creator of Spider-Man, the Hulk, the Fantastic Four, Iron Man, and a whole bunch more Marvel Comics characters.

The Wikipedia says: “A holiday is…a day designated as having special significance for which individuals, a government, or a religious group have deemed that observation is warranted.”

I take my birthday off from work each year.

A birthday IS a holiday if someone deems its observation warranted. Some are celebrated more widely (in the US we celebrate G. Washington & ML King, Jr., e,g.) than others. My old boss used to give us Rod Serling’s birthday off; of course, it happened to be December 25.

One of my uncles introduced me to chocolate covered pomegranates, and they have fast become a family favorite for my girls and I (my hubby doesn’t like chocolate). They look like chocolate covered espresso beans (another favorite of mine, the girls don’t get any since they bounce around the room enough as it is!). So good!

I like the idea of several National Chocolate Days, although I don’t think my waistline would like it very much!

    Hi Rose,

I’m a bit partial to a bit of Bournville myself – a fine dark chocolate from Cadbury’s.
