What is a cliche?- A cliché is a phrase or concept that has been overused.
Today is national Cliché Day, so in honor of the day I bring you a list of common cliches.
- “Money doesn’t grow on trees.”
- “If the shoe fits, wear it.”
- “It’s driving me up the wall.
- “Cry over spilled milk”
- “I hear what you are saying”
- “It costs an arm and a leg.”
- “Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth.”
- “To be perfectly honest.”
- “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.”
- “Having said that”
- “Lets face it”
- “Keep your fingers crossed.”
- “Give it a rest.”
- “All bent out of shape.”
- “For Pete’s sake”
- “ With all due respect.”
- “Grasping at straws.”
- “No one said life was fair.”
- “Its not rocket science.”
- “Don’t put off until tomorrow what you can do today.”

Oh God, I overuse them all. And when I get a joke I like, a little inside goodie, I spring it on my husband daily for about four months until he finally tires of it and freaks out.
Time to make like a herd of turtles and leave….

Like the cliches! I am doing a thing in school where I have to make a list of cliches like you did it is amazing how many cliches there are out there and how you can use them without even knowing it!
Some other cliches are: Apple of my eye, cuts like butter, it was a dark and stormy night, I can read you like a book, hopping like a frog and many others that I can’t think of right now.
You should add these to your list.
