Excuses for not Blogging

September 7th, 2009 by Rose DesRochers · 16 Comments

Have I been missed? I know that I have been absent from the blogosphere for a long time. I been surprised if I even had a readership left. Any regular readers to my blog still around?

I was reading the blog of Benjamin Cip today and he reminded me of the importance of regular blogging in his post “How To Increase Your Blog Traffic.”

I owe it to my faithful readers (if I have any left) to update my blog regularly. For that I’m sorry, but I do have some reasons excuses for not updating.

Here’s my 6 excuses for not blogging regularly:

1. Blame it on Twitter. Too many tweets and not enough time to blog.

2. Procrastination is becoming a bad habit for me.

3. Life attention. (I’m starting to have a social life.)

4. My daughter ( She moved out in June, but still needs her Mommy)

5. Walking (I’m becoming more active. I go for an hour walk each night.)

6. My dog ate my post.

Seriously though, you’d be amazed at the amount of things that keep one from blogging.

They do say absence makes the heart grow fonder and I know that you are all so very fond of me.

Do you have an excuse that keeps you from blogging?

If you liked this post, why not buy me a coffee?

Thanks you for the pingback Rose ;) You’ve got a really nice blog here. I somtime try to find reasons why I didn’t update my blog. I was planning to write about 3 posts a day, but noticed that I couldn’t post quality articles if I had to write 3 posts… not to mention that I’m running 2 other blogs along with the one I’m using now.

I’m guilty, too. I haven’t blogged, I’ve tweeted only a bit, finding it easier to be reading, cooking, spending time w/hubby, cleaning, and trying to work on the novel…and the blog (that never had any readers) has been idle. I need to commit. How do we do it? Tweeting, blogging, writing, reading advice, reading books, when is there time?

I just need to balance home, my social life, family, work, school, two blogs, twitting. commenting, writing and two communities. (Soon to be 3) Shouldn’t be too hard.

Yeah, sometimes it’s not easy being a blogger, especially when your real life tends to get busy and takes you away from blogging. Currently life has been getting pretty hectic and it’s all I can do to reply to my commentators, but heck I owe it to them as they’ve taken a moment out of their life to leave a comment on my blog. :)

It’s my first visit to your blog, and will not be the last!

you have a very good and acceptable excuse in my opinion, and what I see is that you are doing a progress in your life Rose! good luck!

    Social life? What’s that?

I can see how Twitter could do you in. that’s why I’m not very active with Twitter anymore. Ditto with Facebook.

Ha.. I like the last reason though.

NO worries at all. We’re all still here. I believe all of us have been through the exact same situation, and still struggling for a balance.

Just keep up the good work you’re doing. It’s always great to see you back in the blogosphere, Rose! *hugs*

I’m still around… sometimes, as I fall out of the blogging habit too. :-) . Once you start not blogging, it can be hard to get back in the habit. Also real life can be unexpectedly distracting!

My excuse is that I do too much Squidoo. I am completely addicted to it.

I used to be of the rule “blog every day.”

Then that became 20 times a month.

    Now I’m somewhere around 14-15 a month.

Do I feel guilty? Like I’m letting my readers down? I mean, as much as I love the attention, I don’t get paid for blogging, and when I say something I really want it to count, not be forced.

So I dunno. It’d be nice to have lots of content to attract readers and search engines. It’d also be nice to be missed, and asked to write. I don’t blame any blogger – especially not a poet – for slowing down the production schedule: if words matter, there are fewer of them.
