She's mostly deaf, so she wasn't bothered by the noise, but she really didn't like the fact that I had to handle her feet longer than usual. I was able to use it while she slept and got all 4 feet done in one day. It's great on really young dogs (if you can get them used to the sound) or on really old dogs who can't hear the sound. I've never used it on the cats since they're okay with the normal trimming. I used it on my older dog’s feet because she hated having her nails trimmed.
