Websites that Pay Writers

July 30th, 2009 by Rose DesRochers · 14 Comments

I noticed a number of bloggers are writing reviews for websites and products as a way to earn some extra money.  I have compiled a list of websites that pay you to write. I hope you’ll find this list to be helpful.

Associated Content -Rates of pay tend to range between $3-$20.

Helium – You receive a cut of ad revenue based on how popular your posts are and how highly other Helium writers rank your posts.

triond – Money earned on submitted content is based on the popularity of the content and the number of page views. Triond publishes only content that has not been previously published.

ReviewMe – Reviewme.com pays as much as $250 to bloggers for reviews of advertisers’ products or websites.

constant-content “Writers who submit their work to Constant Content may write on any topic or subject and name the work’s price. Upload the article to the site and it will remain here until a buyer purchases it.”

Wiseorb – Publishes articles and pays writers from advertising revenue.

Shvoong -Shvoong pays you ten percent of the royalties that are generated from your writing.

Payperpost -PayPerPost pays bloggers to write positive posts about a service or product.

BlogBurst -BlogBurst pays authors when their blogs are syndicated by publishers.

ScooptWords – “Sign up with Scoopt, carry a ScooptWords button on your blog and editors buy content they want to print and you want to sell.”

Day Tipper- who was previously VitaminT will pay you $3.00 for each tip you submit.

eHow- eHow is only for US citizens 18 and older.

Good luck and happy writing!

Rose, this may be exactly what I’m looking for these days. I’ve recently done a couple of book reviews, with one more in the works and I was wondering if maybe I could actually get paid to write stuff.

Well, your list will be my starting point – thanks!

Daytipper is a ripoff. They’re notorious for not paying for tips. I submitted one tip just to see what the experience was, and sure enough; they published the tip without paying me. Google Daytipper + ripoff and you’ll see tons of similar cases.

    Hey, I was wondering.
Which of these sites pay via check?
I currently have not got a bank account, I have a paypal account but that’s not connected to anything.
The most I’m going to use my paypal account is to buy things online really with the money I earn and is wired into my account but I would like to earn money for other misc.
Which of these pay via check to internationals?
Cheers and thanks for the blog, I visit at least twice a week :]

Jake, with Ehow the payment gets processed via PayPal.

With Associated Content, the payment is processed via PayPal, too.

Daytipper and ScooptWords both pay via Paypal.

Helium pays its members via PayPal. Examiner.com uses PayPal to compensate Examiners.

I think that most Pay to write websites use Paypal, therefore you really do need a bank account.

If you have a blog, Google pays publishers via cheque.

You could also offer to write reviews on your site. Say maybe $10.00 per product review and request to be paid by cheque.

Rose, I’ve since then signed up for Trinod and Associated Content with my PayPal account, I’ve learnt that earning money on Trinod is a really difficult process, I was wondering if you had any writing tips and if you could tell me which of these is easier to gain money out of.
Your help is greatly appreciated :)

Jake, have you considered making money with your own blog? :)

I have considered and I have tried but it was a lot more difficult for me actually, I’m rather co-dependent on a site that’s already running that I can use :(

Why don’t you use Wordtracker and look up the most searched for phrases. Then you can write your content based on readership needs. I have found “lists” to be very popular. Example: Five great homemade halloween costumes or ten must have Halloween wallpapers. You get the idea.

I also recommend submitting some of those articles to social networking sites. Just don’t spam. Do you have a Twitter account?

    Thank you for your output!
I’ve realized that money is hard to get off of Trinod.
I’m doing a lot and I’m gaining a lot of views but after over a month I’m still under one dollar.
Which of these applications is the best to use in your opinion?
An international one would be great, thanks!

Jake, I still recommend launching a blog. You can make money in writing reviews.
