“Life begins at 40 – but so do fallen arches, rheumatism, faulty eyesight, and the tendency to tell a story to the same person, three or four times.” – Helen Rowland
That could explain why I have started wearing eye glasses.
“Age is like underwear, it creeps up on you!” I have recently turned 40 years old. I had a hard time dealing with the fact I was turning 40, but of course my dear husband and children helped me get through the day.
This bouquet of black balloons given to me by Shawn was a superb way to remind me that I was 40. ( Well he thought so.)
Of course we needed an album to catch all those aging moments.
Next came a little reminder that without the photo album I may not remember some of those moments.
Draw attention to the birthday gal by making her wear this hat around town.
They got something right.
I’m glad they didn’t put 40 candles on that cake.
It really was a lovely birthday and to be honest I don’t feel 40. W B Pitkin said “Life begins at forty.” I guess we’ll find out. Hi-ho, hi-ho, it’s over the hill I go.
If you liked this post, why not buy me a coffee?

You’re just a youngster, Rose.
I’d love to be 40 again.
On the other hand, maybe not.
I’d have to be working since I wouldn’t be old enough to be retired.

Happy Birthday! Don’t worry; 40’s a piece of cake, 50 is too. As for 60, I’ll let you know in a few months

I’m glad that you had a good birthday. The forties are a piece of cake, just wait until you hit 50.

You’re only as old as you feel, Rose! I’m glad you had a lovely birthday.
My mom got called ‘middle-aged’ by a police officer and she very matter-of-factly told him that she wasn’t middle-aged! She’s never felt middle-aged at all, and she’ll be 50 next year.
I hope you have another great 40 years!

Happy Birthday, Rose! Forty is young, sounds young to me, grin… it is the term Middle Age that confuses the issue — we need to dump those words, I picture people in armor and old carts rolling across roadways..
PS. It does keep getting better.

I know that feeling… but just enjoy the day; don’t focus on the number.
