Readers of my blog recently asked how one can see what keywords people are using to find their blog.
You can find out what keywords or phrases people are using via Google by installing Google Analytics on your blog.
If you don’t have a Google Analytics account yet then head on over to Google Analytics and sign up for a free account.
For instructions on how to add Google Analytics to a Blogger blog, please see my post “How to Add Google Analytics to Your Blogger Blog.”
If you’re using Wordpress as your blogging platform then install the “Tracking Code” just before </body> tag in the footer of your blog.
How to see what keywords people are using to find your blog
In Google Analytics select the Traffic Sources in the Dashboard, click on “Keywords.” This will give you a detail report of the keywords and key phrases visitors are using via Google.
You may be very surprised by your findings.

I’ve looked at my keywords and phrases on occasion, but generally I don’t see very many “off the wall” search words or phrases. I guess that just means I get boring searches.

Thank you for answering that, Rose. I don’t have any Keywords and phrases. Weird, because I thought I had set up meta tags in there. I will have to look at my template again when I have some more time.

Thanks for the info, every once in a while I look to see how people are finding me and how long they stay, that’s why I try to put key words in my title and again through the body of the post, it actually really works

It’s interesting really, I never knew Google Analytics could be as useful and amusing at the same time. If use it wisely, we may analyse what our readers into, while improving our contents. Good info.
