Rose, I called the cable company yesterday and tried to shut off our cable, leaving only the Internet access. They talked me into keeping our current services and lowered our bill. I'm such a pushover, LOL!!

I have Sky TV, Satellite. The only things that are REALLY worth it are some sports, and old repeats of terrestral TV classics! Other than that is is all adverts, adverts and more ***** with occasional bursts of programme!

I can sort of imagine what life would be like without cable or satellite.

We have cable and turn the t.v. on just for background noise and lighting. If we watch, the Food Network, Travel Channel and Discovery Channels are our favorites. Most of the times, there's nothing on t.v. so we're seriously considering the idea of discontinuing our service.

Without cable, we'll have more time to read and work on our hobbies. Great post, Rose!

I spend a lot of time watching T.V, but most surfing the web. There are at least a 100 'free' channels out there on KU band satellites and a lot on C band satellites, it's a hobby of mine, there is a lot of christian programming out there and the arts, entertainmenst and some oldies like you described on Galaxy 10, I believe it is Galaxy 18 now located at 123 degrees west.

But like you say it is good to read a lot when you can, I have cable but mostly watch my free to air channels, if it wasn't for high speed I would cancel the cable.
