A question I see frequently asked on the Blogger Help Group is how does one go about permanently removing the pencil, screwdriver and spanner (wrench) quick editing icons from Blogger. Personally, I don’t mind them being there. If you however would like to remove them, here’s how:
Go to your ‘Blogger’ Dashboard. Click layout, then the template tab and then the ‘edit html’ subtab. Before making any changes to your template, it is always wise to backup your blog. Put a mark in the ‘Expand widget template box.’
Once the template code is fully displayed, scroll through the code until you fine the following line of code.
<b:include name=”‘quickedit’/”>
Delete this line of code, preview and save your template changes. You will never see the screwdriver and wrench icons again.
Wasn’t that easy?

They don’t bother me either Rose but they do seem to bother a lot of people, good post.

It didn’t bother me until I started tweaking my template and added a search bar. I wanted in in a specific spot so had to fiddle with it. The icons in question throw off the visual spacing so it was easier to turn them off. I like to comment out html tags rather than delete, later I can reverse it. Also you can use regular Blogger Settings to turn off just the pencil icon (
no html needed for that one)

How do I accomplish the opposite?
I started using a template which did not have the icon by default while logged in blogger. I need these tools….its much easier editing certain widgets when the screwdriver and wrench icon is there. Please help me.
