Apple Cider Vinegar- Benefits or Old Wife Tale

July 3rd, 2008 by Rose DesRochers · 15 Comments

An apple a day keeps the doctor away, but what about apple cider vinegar? Apple cider vinegar has generated a great deal of discussion recently with some people swearing by it. Fergie revealed in an interview with Glamour Magazine that one of her diet tricks is a shot of apple cider before meals. A tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in water taken before meals apparently helps you loose weight.

Weight loss? Who knew! Is this true or is this simply an old wives tale? Can the apple cider vinegar diet actually make you loose weight? I don’t know if this stuff will work, but it’s worth a try. I have not tried this yet, but plan to.

Apple cider vinegar is also a home remedy used to treat every thing from acne to lowering cholesterol. It is said to treat dandruff, be a remedy for arthritis and lower blood pressure.

Have you used apple cider vinegar? What has your experience with it been?

Its no wives tale—trust me a spoonfull of vinegar of any kind, will kill any thought of eating for hours—note cod liver oil will do equally as well.

I havan’t, but I am considering it now, as I love vinegar. But then…wouldn’t you need to have it with a healthy meal, as that is where I fail miserably!

Actually I was reading an article and it said that the vinegar cuts through the fat. You want to purchase the apple cider vinegar at a health store and not the brands like heinz that you purchase at your grocery store. The apple cider vinegar in the grocery stores eliminate the “mother” (the mass of scum that forms on top). Sounds yummy doesn’t it? The apple cider vinegar may also make you feel less hungry for fatty food.

Hi, this is my first comment. Wish me luck  I have not used apple cider vinegar. But some time ago I came to know that you can reduce fat by using curry leaves.

    Thanks

Wayne did you just tell me to get off my butt and move?

Hahaha! No, I’m telling the rest of the world that nothing beats a little muscle building and increasing your heart rate a little from time to time.

We shouldn’t be looking for ‘easy’ ways to reduce our weight when it’s quite proven that all one needs to do is move with purpose, right?

There may be benefits to apple cidar and vinegar, but it surely isn’t THE solution to losing weight.

I really need to understand how others think when they read something I say. I meant nothing but humor when i said that, not directed at any one person at all. :)

    Well Fergie’s a liar.

Vinegar as key to her weight loss? Just two years ago she credited that to her habitual use of meth. And for five plus years before that? She claimed to have bulimia. She even dragged her friends to eating disorder groups and made up fake stories to share to keep her cover.

    Fergie Faked Bulimia

Hazel thanks for the info… Fergie may be a liar. Nonetheless there are others who swear by this. Like many other fad diets I realize that it’s not clear as to whether this will work, but I surely won’t knock it until I try it. I’ll keep you posted.

 Sorry I made a mess again. I got the correct recipe from my mother. It is mixture of Curry leaves, Malabar Tamarind (Goraka), Pepper, Garlic, Salt and lime. Anyway this mess inspired me to write an article regarding this. Visit my blog and let me know what you think.

 By the way regarding the writing forum, I just don’t have the time. There’s another reason, that is I just don’t understand poetry or poets. I will be like a dummy there.

    Thanks

I got curious with this apple cider vinegar…anyway, this was recommended by one of my office mate. so, i run all the way to the nearest grocery store . i just happen to see the HEINZ brand…well i don’t have any idea about this. just so desperate in loosing weight because my wedding will be in two months times. i have it in 2 tablespoon with 1 tablespoon of honey. “crossed fingered” it will at least help me in losing weight, though i does some exercises.
