Today was one of the greatest days of my life. My son (my baby) graduated from Grade 8 this evening. It was quite the occasion. It is hard to believe that he’s off to high school. Where did the years go? He was valedictorian tonight and he and his co- valedictorian gave a very heartfelt speech.
In addition to being named valedictorian, my son also made the academic honors list and received the arts award. I’m so very proud of him. I know that he will excel in anything he puts his mind to. I hope that the next four years will be rewarding. He certainly works hard and deserves happiness.
After the ceremony we went out for Chinese food then dropped him off at the hall for his school dance where we’ll be picking him up shortly.
I just wanted to get my bragging rights as a Mom in.
If you liked this post, why not buy me a coffee?

That’s fantastic! He sounds like a great kid … probably because he has great parents

Congratulations to him! and to you too. It will take many more years for me to sit down and write something like this about my lil ones!

Cool. Question though - you wrote: ” he and his co- valedictorian gave a very heartfelt speech.” So did they do a back-and-forth thing, or one started and the other completed it, did you mean they each gave a speech? Just trying to understand. What was the topic anyway?

I remember when I graduated from 8th grade, I was given a small radio —which later when I graduated from HS, they got me the 45rpm recod player attachment that plug into it—the first record I bought was “Ifound my Thrill on Blueberry Hill”, by fats domino——by I digress, congrats rose to you and your son.

They each read a paragraph of the speech Roger. The topic reflected on their past year and going forward.
