Abraham Lincoln once said that you can please some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time. This may just be one of those occasions.
Last week I sent out an email to all members of my blogging community BloggerTalk.net. Today, it was brought to my attention that I offended a couple of members and my communication came across poorly. It was never my intention to be purposefully rude.
I don’t want Blogger Talk Blog Forum to be one of those blog forums that bloggers feel the need to avoid, so please if I ever offend you or the tone of one of my emails anytime take you by surprise, just send me an email and let me know.
I want to make BloggerTalk.net an enjoyable blogging support forum where bloggers feel welcomed to ask questions.
I hope you will feel comfortable continuing to ask me your blogging questions here at my personal blog, at Google Blogger Help Group where I’m a volunteer Blog * Star or at BloggerTalk Blog Forums.

I really don’t know why people were offended I just took it as you wanted people to be more involved.It sure was no skin off my back. I think you give great advice to newbies and anyone who needs it. Keep up the great work and feel free to drop me an email if you really want to offend someone without people taking it wrong.I have thick skin so not to much bothers me.

No worries Rose. It was simply you, a community admin, reaching out to yourmembers to remind them to swing by and participate.
After all, there is no community without those members participating.
As for the wording – well, if there is anyone, ANYONE, who read the message, and has never communicated soemhting that could have used some “polishing”, let them please post.
Like most folks – those multitudes who will mostly likely remain silent, I read your note and saw the spirit of the message clearly.

Personally, I thought it was a good email. A lot of times you sign up for something and you feel like it really doesn’t matter to anyone whether you’re there or not. While I haven’t had time to participate in any forums lately, it’s nice to know that someone noticed that I registered!

I’ve offended a few of my readers over the years, too. It always sucks when you mean something in a positive and it’s taken in a negative. Sometimes people have bad days and read into things, other times we have bad days and mean one thing and say another. I’ve learned to take it all in stride. Just do the best you can and leave the rest up to God.

Some people , usually those with a to high opinion of themselves, are easily jacked up—I wouldn’t become overly concerned—sure we ALL sometimes phrase things which we think are neutral enough, cept those listening to it take it the wrong way—-I mean—well hell, I’ve been told I am being rude a few times—wasn’t my intent but—-there ya go?

Hi Rose my name is John Sullivan and my little spider kicks out great blogs for me to check out.
Nice blog I haven’t ever went to that blogrtalk and will check it out after this.I mention that cause I want to actually say something to all bloggers in general.Get over yourself already.
Bloggers are notorious for NOT supporting other bloggers! Like on wothless Blogcatalog.
