Today, June 1st is donut day. Drop by your favorite Tim Hortons or Dunkin Donuts and treat yourself to a donut. Before you bite into that donut be sure to thank the Salvation Army. National Doughnut Day honors the Salvation Army “Lassies” of WWI. “Doughnut Day was established in 1938 to honor the work of Salvation Army who prepared donuts for thousands of soldiers in World War I.” (Source Donut Day)
Today is also Oscar the Grouch’s Birthday, which would explain why a lot of people appear to be in a grouch. Me, well I’m just very moody. ( I thought his birthday was in Feb?)

Today is also pen pal day so drop me an email.
What’s your favorite donut?
I like Apple Fritters from Tim Hortons.
If you liked this post, why not buy me a coffee?

Donut day reminds me of the 12 Days of Christmas, sung by Canadians Bob and Doug MacKenzie, who neglected to ask for donuts, even they did ask for five golden toques, four pounds of back bacon, three French toasts, two turtlenecks and a beer (in a tree).

So the perfect way to celebrate today would be with a green donut, but they don’t make those until St. Patrick’s Day - now that makes me grouchy!
