How to Rank Well in Google
Imagine how many hit’s to your blog you would get if you were to optimize your blog not just for readers, but search engines too. Optimizing a blog is not that difficult. Google in particular, seems to love my blog. I rank well for several keywords in Google. How do I do it? Here are some suggestions that I follow for ranking well in Google.
1. When you are building links in your blog, make sure the anchor text is one of the keywords you are trying to rank for.
2. Include your keywords as tags.
3. Create Relevant Title Tags - Think about the words that a potential reader will use to search in Google to find the information you’re posting about. If your primary key phrase is “Easter Tickers” make sure that is the title of your blog post.
4. Use your keywords in the body of your posts. Make sure that you have that keyword you are trying to rank for positioned in the first paragraph especially if you use read more. Also use your keyword that you are trying to rank for as many times as you can within the body of your post without keyword stuffing.
5. Use strong tags within the body of your blog posts to emphasize your keywords.
6. Use subtitles on your blog post.
7. Use your keyword when naming images and in the anchor text of the image.
8. If you use Wordpress like I do install the related post plugin and the most commented on post plugin. There is also a related post widget for those using Blogger and you can create a most popular post list using the keywords you wish to rank for.
Check the popularity of keywords with Wordtracker.com. Post and update your blog frequently using my suggestions above. Remember that a higher rank means more visitors to your blog.

Thank you for the tips! Google ranking has always been a mystery to me. I will implement your suggestions and see how things go.

Thanks for the tips - I’ve noticed that blog post titles show up more readily in a search than a direct quotation from the blog post itself, no matter how unique (and that was when I had full feeds). What are the subtitles you mention?

This was fantastic timing,I have had some struggles with Google lately. They have moved my page rank over and over and I have been having a hard time figuring out the reasoning behind it, your information is giving me a direction to head in at least. I’ll be sure to check back to your blog regularly for more information.

Hmmm. But the title is one of the fun parts of my site. Although I have to say that the content on my site is not exactly google search material. Because of you, I wrote a post about:
Banana muffins
Say Yes to the Dress
Helpful Voices
And you think google will be visiting me?

I looked. Wedding dresses? Is there some kind of sale going on at that place or what? How did that become the most searched phrase???

Matt glad to help.
Invader, Bob and Daly my pleasure.
Diddum subtitles are a second heading like my “How to rank well in Google.” Notice I put it in an h2 tag.

Ah - thanks
I sometimes think it would be nice if we could put something like :
Shopping in Health Food Shops
or
I Love Cashew Nuts
Not all the time, as it would get annoying, but just sometimes when it would be useful.

I feel conflicted in changing my written content to rank high on search engines, but advice like this makes sense.
Thanks!

Thanks for the seo tips; it took forever for my first blog to start getting google visits. Hopefully with my new one I can get there faster using tactics such as these.
Thanks again!
