Contactthem- Affiliate Spam

March 6th, 2008 by Rose DesRochers · 5 Comments

I received an email today with the subject line “I’ve visited your website.” Upon reading the email that offers to pay $4,800/month to advertise links on my website red flags immediately went up. I did a quick Google search for the website Contactthem. What would you know, my suspicions of the company were right. ContactThem Network affiliate spam anyone?

The company is owned by Stehan Ducharme. Stehan is selling the ContactThem software for internet marketers, which promises too find contactthem leads.

Quoting, Matthew Bredel an online marketer who has received a few hundred emails from Contactthem.

“ContactThem is sugar-coating their affiliate marketing program with the word “advertising”.”

Mathew writes about Contactthem in his post “ContactThem: Stop Contacting ME!

The email from Contactthem reads:

Hi,

We’ve seen your website at (insert url here) and we love it!

We see that your traffic rank is (traffic rank number)
and your link popularity is (link popularity number)
Also, we see that you are online since (Online since number).

With that kind of traffic, we will pay you up to $4,800/month to advertise our links on your website.

If you’re interested, read our terms from this page:
(the url)

Sincerely,
Jonn Hall
The ContactThem Network

So what I got in my inbox today was not an offer for advertisement, but a ContactThem affiliate link spam letter from someone named John Hall. Talk about misleading.

The old adage applies: if it’s too good to be true, it probably isn’t!
