Pardon my language, but according to Wordtracker 26 people last month wanted to know what the hell is blogging?
Let me see if I can explain. A blog is a website where one posts their thoughts on a range of different topics. Therefore, blogging is the expression of ones thoughts. The author of the blog is a blogger. To me, blogging gives me an outlet to do something that I love and that is write.
Blogging is like………
Blogging is like a box of chocolates
In December, Darren Rowse wrote Blogging is Like… which lists 40 + blog posts with their definition of blogging.
Last month Lorelle VanFossen defined what blogging was to her in her post Define Blogging.

All you have to do is to reply here in the comment section with what blogging is to you and Blog it on your own blog with a link back to this post. (Remember to enter the contest you must post on your blog about this contest and what blogging is to you.)

Blog is my mental vent to drag me out of my boring routine life and sink in my own world at my place, get charged, and go back to the routine life again!!

Blogging is like sex. If you do it on your own, or with someone, for the most part it is great. But every so often is just plain rubbish and you wish you hadn’t done it. Luckily you recover to blog another day!

I’m eager to find out what people think about the definition of blogging. While the core definition, as you’ve set it, is my base, my thoughts about what truly defines blogging keeps evolving. So I’m excited to know what others use for criteria. Thanks!

Rose, I won’t post it on my site since it really does not fit the style of my blog…but I’ll still put my two cents worth in.
Blogging is therapy! Great therapy!

Blogging is the organization of the important and the ephemeral in the life of a person or organization, ideally in an appealing manner.

Blogging is a vehicle to express your passion to a group of people that you wouldn’t normally have any contact with, a great equalizer.

Blogging is saying what you have to say without being interrupted. It is a passion that makes you want to let the whole world know what is inside you. It is an addiction that sometimes will keep you up all night wondering in that tiny little brain, of what to blog about next. It is a money maker, and a heart breaker. It can make you laugh and it can make you cry. You can make friends and enemies also. You can learn from others mistakes, or you get teach them about your own mistakes. I guess you could basically say, “Blogging is Cool”

I linked, you know this won’t be short, Rose, but you said put it here, too.
Blogging is, quite simply, communication via the internet, be it communication of facts, emotions, brainstorming, or merely a forum of questions that need answering. Blogging is exceptional in that it can be rambling or clear and concise, no matter what the powers to be or self-imposed authorities think, there is someone who responds to any kind of writing. Obviously, not every blogger is found or found often enough by the right reader, but the possibility exists. And where else other than a letter or an email can you speak and be heard without someone stepping over your words, causing you to lose your train of thought either because you are so irritated they were so rude or your mind leaps to accept their words as far superior and shuts down before you words even form!?
And communication, y’all, happens to be the key to all human interaction, heart and soul aside.

I keep thinking about this question. So far I’ve not answered because I’m not sure what blogging is… and I’ve been doing it for over 2 years.

When the going gets tough, the tough go blogging!!!
Blogging gives me a creative outlet for writing about the bad things that happen in life and somehow finding a way to make them funnier or more poignant by adding a theme. Others let me know that they share my pain, laughter, or have even given me helpful advice through their comments. Sometimes I’m even judged and criticized. It’s great therapy!
