Blog Plagiarism- I need to vent

February 21st, 2008 by Rose DesRochers · 10 Comments

I’m so angry. A blogger asked me for advice and I took my time to assist him. He then took the advice I gave him and the advice I gave someone else on a blogger forum and created a derivative work from my content and then attempted to pass it off as his own.

He did not even ask for my written permission to create a derivate work and the wording is so close to what I originally said that it is not funny. It makes me wonder how many other bloggers he plagiarized.

He then has the nerve to ask me if he can use my content, but include my name at the end of my post acknowledging my expertise.
No way! That’s not going to happen. Had he asked my permission before he took my  ideas and passed them off as his own I would of been happy to oblige.

If you liked this post, why not buy me a coffee?

I love your buy me a coffee idea and I would like to use it. I could say something like buy me a tiny bit of my new computer, something like that, so i’m not totally ripping it off. Would that be ok plagiarism wise, p.s. the advise you give in the forum has been a real help to me

He was a nice guy though…with the exception of being a brain dead imbecile. At least the other one who I replied to and the thread got deleted hasnt reappeared. Yet.

As an article writer, I’ve had my words stolen before and I hate it. I try very hard to always always always give credit when I use someone else’s articles or to link directly to someone’s blog if I like a post.

Umm I drink tea…does that count? LOL

There must have been a huge amount of adrenaline relesed into your blood stream when u found what this person did this to u and ur advise. I had a similar experience. Some people just love to plagarize. I do write some poems and circulate it amongst friends…I still dont know who the dirty villan is…he/she just took the words and created a forward message out of it and passed it to others and just imagine me getting my own poem with somebody else’s credit added to it! I was so sickened by it! Who ever the dirty soundrel is they r gonna get it one of these days…

The same here. If I use someone else, I will always have a link to the person who said what I am quoting. I find that to be only common courtesy.
