Schedule your posts for a future date – Blogger

February 17th, 2008 by Rose DesRochers · 5 Comments

Soon bloggers will be able to post-date a blog post and have it publish at a later date and time.  The post timestamp (schedule post) feature is already available in Wordpress, but has been a long awaited feature for the Blogger platform. Now those using Blogger won’t have to wait much longer. It is already available on Blogger in draft.

For those who would like to test out the new feature you can do so now via Blogger in draft. Note that scheduled posts only works when you’ve logged in to Blogger in draft. Try it out and let me know what you think.

If you liked this post, why not buy me a coffee?

I already use the draft option to post-date them. I have a few posts already written and put them in order of the days they will be posted so I can hit a button and it is done. Although the ability to have it autopost would be so much easier as it means I wont have to log in to do it. I still think I should have used WordPress though. Once I get round to buying the domain name I want, I will maybe move it all over.

    Hi Rose,

Sometime I have time will schedule 2 to 3 posts for advance to avoid missing out any date. If no time, will post daily. I think the best way is post few posts in the weekend for advance posts.

I would like protest against scheduled posting method.

So, the idea of scheduled posting is great, but the realisation is poor.

The simpler and maybe the best way to do this is to insert a new scheduling date field next to the date field.

Now the date field functionality is too complicate:

    a) dating
    b) scheduling
    c) URL generating
    d) sorting
    e) archiving

For example, if someone (like me) want to add a post with future date, can’t do it correctly.

If I publish it (as blogger team suggests) with current date and then repost it with a new date, then the URL of the post (and archive date) remain unchanged.

So the date of the post and the date in the link (and the archive) are different, and this mismatch is a problem for the blogger and the readers too.
