What is a Blog Without Comments – Faithful readers

February 13th, 2008 by Rose DesRochers · 13 Comments

If you have been a reader of my blog for some time you might notice that there has been a decline in my blogging. Part of that has to do with time and the fact that I always seem to be on the run these days. I wasn’t sure if anyone was still reading this blog, but my loyal readership showed me that they were still there within the shadows of the blogosphere.

That brings me to a question. What’s a Blog Without Comments? Many of you might answer that a blog without comments is still a blog. But is it? I think that those who take the time out to comment on your blog are a big part of it. Kudos to my loyal readership. I need not mention names as you know who you are. I appreciate you more than mere words can express. One of the best parts of blogging is you. Thank you for being patient with me during my blogging absences and being such a big part of my blogging journey. If you are visiting for the first time to my blog, don’t worry. Our journey together has just begun that is if you return. To my loyal readers, thank you once again. You are wonderful!

If you liked this post, why not buy me a coffee?

    What’s a blog without comments?

A web diary, of course, of someone who doesn’t comment on the blogs of others. If you don’t go out and comment, chances are that no one will visit and comment on your blog.

Comments and reader interaction is a large part of this blog culture I believe.

I always write when I have something to say AND I have time. Actually, I wish more people would comment on MY blog. I see the count and note that people were there, but it ain’t the same.

My blogging’s taken a downturn lately also. Its a busy time right now. But one of the blogs I definately read as much as I can, is this one. I really really like it here, I always find something that makes me think, or feel good. For me, with the topics I blog about? Your blog is like a home away from home. Slow down by all means, but please doooont gooo!

Somtimes I don’t comment, simply because I read in bloglines, in a hurry. I always mean to come back, but then I don’t. I will try to be a better blogger friend!

    Hey Rose,
Been a long time, you are right though. The comments and readers are what make the blog. I can write or talk all day long, but if no one reads or listens. It is just wasted time.

I have about 4 people who comment on every post, and then get the odd one here or there out of the norm. My Analytics stats show me how many people are viewing compared to commenting, but obviously would like to know that people are reading and staying rather then a hit and run on Entrecard or some such site. But at the same time, I find I wont comment on every post I read unless I believe I have something to say. That is why there are so many “lurkers” out there. People who are happy to read but do not want to write. I was thinking of putting a poll on mine to see how many would click it. See what kind of stats I get about people who are staying and reading. Those same lurkers will still not click on it!

I think a lot of us are slowing down in our blogging. After doing this for a few years you start to run out of things to say!

Hey Rose, I think commenting is important, I’ve been doing it before blogging became popular, back in 2000 when my friends started blogs, it brings the blog to life, shows the person whose blog it is that you appreciate what they are doing, of course if it sucks I don’t leave a coment, don’t wanna encourage suckness.
