Oh my goodness, dress shopping with mom, now thats a great time. My grad dress was a horrible dynasty styled big shouldered monstrosity. I'd have saved it except the moment I got a chance I ruined it with orange soda. Guess that subversive streak has long roots.
I sure hope your daughter finds something fabulous, stylish and worthy to take up room in the closet. Fabric memories, space wasters extrodinaire but oh so sentimental.

Sy oh is that not the truth. My son graduates from elementary school in a few months. All he needs is shoes, a shirt, tie and shoes. I'm looking at 100.00. Cheaper then the dress, hair, makeup, shoes etc my daughter needed her grade 8 grad. lol

Roger- You again!

Boughten is in the American dictionary, but having looked over my post I think it sounds better as bought.

boughten- Past participle of buy. Found regionally in the US and other English-speaking communities. Used both as an adjective and verb.

Does this answer your question? It looks like it is just as much an American thing as Canadian.

"She still has not boughten her dress." Boughten? Is that one of those terms that they use in Canada that they don't use in the US? I'm interested because I've been reading separatedbyacommonlanguage.blogspot.com/ the separated by a common language blog, mostly comparing UK and US English, but occasionally Canadian or South African or Australian will creep in.

I bet your daughter, however, found the perfect dress. I miss dressing up occasionally, it was fun to shop for them. I have to run look at the "ugly" dresses. When I got married we rented everything, bridesmaids dresses and my bridal gown, so we didn't have future ugly dresses, just "photos", grin.
