A popular Australia children’s toys, called Bindeez beads has been recalled after it was revealed the product’s beads contain a chemical that converts into the toxic illegal drug fantasy or Grievous Bodily Harm (date-rape drug GHB) when swallowed.
According to news reports at least three children in NSW and Queensland have been hospitalised after putting the toy in their mouth.

Bindeez consists of colorful craft beads that are joined together to create designs. They are sprayed with water to set them.
Who would have thought that the Chinese-made Bindeez bead, which won the 2007 Australian Toy of the Year award at the Melbourne Toy and Hobby fair would contain a dangerous party drug (date-rape drug GHB).
According to one new article some experts believe the drug was deliberately swapped for one of the ingredients that should have went into the beads.
This is frightening! Who would have done such a thing. This is just sick!

More and more toys are being recalled for various reasons. This one is very disturbing. Thanks for the heads up.

Mom,
That is sick and twisted for someone to do that. Who in their right mind would stick a date rape drug in a children’s toy? Reading this post makes me get shivers up my back…. how sad…

This was terrible news. My girlfriend’s kids have got these and her youngest may have swallowed some. He seems fine though. Yesterday she rang them up about it (as she needs to bin her daughters current ones) and they said they will send 4 replacement packs.
If you have these, ring up the company and see if they will send replacements. Bindeez packs cost quite a bit so this is a good way to get some of that back

That is messed up. It is such a sick world that we live in. And to think that half of the stuff that is being recalled is coming from places like China and Japan. It is very scary,

Matt I sure as hell would not trust the replacement packs. Get this………… “The Chinese factory charged with making toys containing toxic substances is still making new products despite a government ban on its exports, a report said Monday.” Google it!
Diggy hun- Since August, 26 million made-in-China toys and other products have been recalled in the US alone.

Viola my pleasure. I just read about another China recall due to violation of lead paint. This time it was a bead attachment on girl gift sets. Viola just a few days ago Chinese-manufactured cribs were recalled because they had a potentially fatal flaw.
Pink it is sad.

This was all over the news back in AUS and is so scary. Those poor parents whose children have been affected by that toy. Scary stuff.
There has been a large number of toy recalls in the past few months in AUS. Makes you rethink the things you buy your children.
