If you have a young child or are a grandparent of a young child then chances are you’ve heard of Webkinz. I had never heard of them until the little girl that I provide respite care brought over a Webkinz Persion Cat last month. Webkinz are the hottest things since Beanie Babies and Cabbage Patch dolls.

For those who don’t know a Webkinz is a plush pet. Each Webkinz plush toy comes with a secret code in the tag that gives access to the online website Webkinz World.
Children then go online to Webkinz World and get a virtual pet.
At Webkinz World children can care for their virtual pet, answer trivia, play games and earn KinzCash.
Children can chat with other Webkinz owners using Kinzchat.
According to surfnetkids.com instead of typing a message children choose from pre-typed messages.
This seems like it would make KinzChat chatting perfectly safe.
Perhaps not! Surfnet kids addresses what you need to know about Webkinz chat rooms. I suggest you check it out of you have children who use the service.

Hi Rose,
My honey’s a professional quilter (nearly 20 yrs worth) who always had Beanie Baby quilts as one of her long standing items. With the advent of Webkinz she just couldn’t resist. You have to see this. She even has one of those Webkinz pets online just so she knows what she’s talking about when folks ask about them. This is quite a compliment about Webkinz since my honey is the true skeptic’s skeptic when it comes to kids toys (she had 5 children herself).
Note: This is not a shameless plug. It just pertains to your post and I think you might find it cute. Hope you don’t mind.

Kirk- I don’t mind at all. These are so cute. She should advertise them or does she? I had a look through the website and I just love her work.
