In case you didn’t know – today is Talk Like a Pirate Day. The holiday was invented in 1995 by John Baur and Mark Summers.
What started out as a joke between two good friends really took off when syndicated columnist Dave Barry begun to promote the holiday in 2002. The day even has its own unofficial anthem. Tom Smith wrote and recorded “Talk Like a Pirate Day” in 2003.
