Free Photos for your Blog

If you’ve ever wondered where you can find free images to use on your blog, I wanted to make it easier for you. I have compiled a list of ten places to findĀ  photos for your blog.

One of the most recommend resources for images online is the Stock Exchange at http://sxc.hu

Free Large Photos - Individuals may use these images for their personal use if they note the source.

Free Photographs - “The Free Photographs Network is an online resource for royalty-free stock photographs (free) for non-commercial use.”

Stock Vault - Stockvault offers more than 7800 free stock photos and free images in their gallery.

Stockcache Gallery - Stockcache Gallery offers a collection of free stock photography licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 2.5 License.

Open Photo - Hundreds of stock photos licensed for free commercial and non-commercial use.

freedigitalphotos.net - Thousands of royalty free photos for instant download. For commercial and non-commercial use. No registration required.

BurningWell - BurningWell is a repository for public domain (free for any use) images. You are free to download, copy and use the photos you find there for any purpose.

Pictures from Old BooksOver 1830 images scanned from more than 100 different old books. They are mostly public domain (copyright-free, out of copyright), unless otherwise noted. Be sure to read the how to use these images page.

Image Base- Imagebase is a site for free stock photography and pictures by David Niblack. Be sure to read David’s license agreement.

Finding images online‘ is a directory of Web image sites, compiled by Paula Berinstein.

It is highly recommended that you read each web site’s “copyright notice” or “user agreement” before using any of these images on your blog.

Great list – but you missed out my site Rose! lol.

Seriously, the amount of my images that are ‘borrowed’ astounds me.

Also – just to add a site, this one is a great resource and is free:

Oh, how cool! :) Thank you for this. I was just thinking about something like this myself today…where to get pics without stealing content.

While I try to use my own photos as much as possible, sometime I want some thing that I just don’t have a picture of.

Thanks for this post. I’ve got it bookmarked for later reference when I’m looking for photos.
