Have you posted a link request and it has gone ignored? I think that some bloggers don’t get how blogging works. Most bloggers don’t want to exchange links. Forget about the link exchange requests.
Many bloggers will find content that they want to link to on their own. If you write interesting posts, bloggers will link to you.
5 tips to get bloggers to link to you
- Post weekly on your blog. At least 3-4 times a week. Focus on content.
- Link to other bloggers content. – If you find something interesting happening in the blogosphere then link to that blog post. Spread the link love.
- Troll the blogosphere for related topics- Use Google BlogSearch, Bloglines and Technorati and seek out bloggers who are discussing similar issues as you and join in those conversations.
- Write an opinion piece or a how to article on your blog.
- Join social networking sites and blog forums. Visit blogs and leave comments creating conversations. Make yourself known in the blogosphere. Be helpful!
A-List Bloggers get 100 people linking to them on a daily basis. How do they do it? They concentrate on producing great content and the links follow. Remember that quality content gets linked to.

Rose, this was an A-List blog post. I didn’t know all the info in #3. I can’t wait to check it out.

Very nice tips. You’re right that requesting the link exchanges is not the best way to go. I’ve found the most success doing what you said, link out to other sites you enjoy and you’ll find that others do the same to your site as long as you’re writing quality content.

Before, I don’t know anything about links until one day I found out I had been linked in another site. It feels good to be appreciated in what you write and being linked certainly boosts the drive to write again so I am spreading link love to posts with good content.

Rose you mentioned content, your absolutely right, bottom line, it’s all about content, sure you can get immediate traffic to your site by begging for it on discussions groups but if I don’t like what I read I’m not comming back.

Simply put, Rose, and well. I never understood asking for link exchanges. That takes it from links because you want to, to linking just to be linking.

This is very useful information! Although at the moment I’m finding it hard to think what to focus my blog on. I have such a broad range of interests, that its going to be too hard for me to focus!

I’ve got a question regarding #1. Most of the successfull bloggers said that a blogger must post daily, which is which?

Ramil, I’ll answer that in another post.

Hi Rose, thanks for the great tips. I have several Google Alert sets for when anyone in the blogosphere discusses a subject that’s related to mine, and that keeps me busy!
But I also enjoy visiting the sites of my commentators, like yours.
Best,
Paul

I’ve been asked for link exchanges, and I turn them down. I’ve stopped feeling guilty about it. Commenting regularly — good, real comments, not just the “you go girl” kind — is one of the best ways to get a link back. My “regulars” are granted a spot on the blogroll.
