How to add Music to your Blogspot blog
Kristin Park emailed me today with a question. She wants to know how to add a 7 minute audio interview to her blogger blog.
Adding audio to your blog isn’t difficult. If you’re wondering how to add music or audio to your blog or website, the steps below should assist you.
First you will need to upload the audio file to a free file storage site. I recommend archive.org.
How to insert audio clips into your post
Click on edit html in your blog post and copy and paste the following code into your post where you want the audio file to play.
<embed src=”Url_of_Your_Audio_File” autostart=false loop=false height=62 width=144 controls=”console”></embed>
Replace Url_of_Your_Audio_File with the path to the audio file. Click on publish post. Please note that visitors using Firefox may be prompt to download the Apple Media Plugin in order to listen to your audio file.
I hope this post was helpful.
Note: When you upload a file to Archive.org you will see “Stream”. Right click on that and copy the link location to the file. Your link will most likely end in M3u. If you have trouble, contact me.
If you liked this post, why not buy me a coffee?

Thanks for that tip. I was wondering myself. BTW, “to upload” not “top upload”

Rose.. what is your emai? .. or what’s the best way to contact you……..
It is so funny that you mentioned the plug in. I wanted to ask you what plug in to use, but I thought that would be extremely rude of me.

Oh cool, also fileden.com and freedrive.com are good places to upload media to. Filexoom was, but lately it’s been giving me errors. Hopefully it will have fixed itself by now.

I prefer to keep my audio files on box.net account, and post them to blogger – it generates you a new post with link to your file and flash widget to play it – of course you can edit it and remove all unnecessary stuff

I loved that tip! I knes there had to be an easy way to do that.
My question now is: i have two different audio files, and I would like to link them together, so that they play one after another, in the same way as its described in this post. Is it possible?

Thanks for this information. I copied and pasted the code and inserted the URL of where I have my audio file hosted. But when I check the blog all I can see is an empty box with some type of icon. Evidently I’ve done something wrong. Can you help?
Thanks in advance.

The Farmers Wife it could be that your computer does not have the media player installed. Could you post it and I’ll take a look.

Thanks Rose. For some reason I’m having great difficulty in sending a comment, but I’m going to try again. Perhaps your comments section doesn’t allow links so I’ll just say put an http:// before the following:

I must be missing something Suzanne as I don’t see it on your blog? Is it in the sidebar?

Hi Rose, It’s not in the sidebar. What I’m trying to do is embed the audio in the body of each post. Possible??
Thanks again. – Suzanne

Letto- If you want it to play when the blog is launched then you need to set autostart to true.
autostart=true.
I don’t recommend this. You might piss off your readers.
Suzanne, if you want to embed it into a post- I’ll need you to add it so I can see what you’re doing.

Hi Rose, I’ve created a blog post, inserted the code above and changed the URL to the MP3 file I have stored on Free Drive. When I publish all I see is a box with an icon in the left corner.
Thanks again for trying to help me figure this out!

Suzanne, the file path is wrong. I can’t access it either because it’s stored in a members only area, but I’m guessing the path should end in mp3.

I’m having the same problem: I uploaded to Archieve and inserted the URL. It comes up as the box with an icon. No audio.

Hi Rose, I tried following your instructions but experienced similiar problems to others, with only the logo box appearing in the post. What i am hoping to achieve is a song and player to appear in a post on my blogger site and for it to play only when instigated by the viewer (not auto). Is it possible to use streaming files from last.fm to post up audio or necessary to put them somewhere such as archive.org i actually tried both and also the embeding instructions from blogger
