How to get Repeat Visitors to your Blog

The more blogs, that are created, the harder it becomes to get traffic to your blog. Every new Blogger is competing with you to get as much traffic as they can to their blog.

Bloggers assume by increasing traffic and getting new visitors to their blog that their blog will be successful. This is partially true, but in order for a blog to be successful you have to give those visitors a reason to return to your blog.

How to get Repeat Visitors to your Blog

Update your blog frequently- Write good content and be consistent with your posting schedule. This gives a reason for your visitors to return to your blog.

Remind people to bookmark – Place an add this blog to your favorites link on your blog to encourage visitors to return.

Encourage Subscription- Add a button allowing your visitors to subscribe to your feed.

Make your blog easy to navigate- Add a sitemap. If your readership can easily find things on your blog without searching around, they will be more likely to return.

Make your address easy to remember- Domain names are cheap these days, you can get one for $8.99 at namecheap.com. If you are looking for web hosting, why not try visionthishosting.com. They offer an affordable blog hosting plan.

Allow and encourage comments on your blog- Interaction and discussion will have visitors returning.

Reply to comments – Those who visit your blog are interested in what you have to say. Build relationships with your readership by responding to comments regularly.

Visit and post on other blogs
- Do leave comments on blogs you like to read. If a fellow blogger has taken the time to visit your blog, it’s very good etiquette for you to return the visit.

Give your blog readership plenty of reasons to want to revisit your blog. In the blogosphere where everyone appears to be competing for that A Blogger status, giving visitors a reason to return to your blog is an essential tool to your blogging success. The most important thing to remember is to have fun blogging. The rest will fall into place.

My favorite is replying to comments as I try to respond to every comment on my site, either with a return comment or via email.

As a reader of other blogs, I find that the ones that allow me to get email notification of comments are the ones I return to the most and comment at the most.

    Very nice list of tips/suggestions.

Nice suggestions, I noticed however that you have “blog” in almost every sentence. Is this SEO or what?

Thank you Carl. I read some of your articles at EzineArticles.

Grace, my pleasure. Thank you for dropping by.

Jeremy, yes they can. They focus too much on traffic and linking.

Pharoah I most likely could have dropped the word blog a few times, but I guessed I keyed in on blog. lol

I do hold the first place for now in Google on “How to get Repeat Visitors to your Blog.”

Good post Rose; but which type of bookmarking do you mean? Social or traditional?

Social bookmarking buttons can get messy I think. Do you feel traditional bookmarking is still as popular as always?

    Thanks,
    Michael

I still use traditional bookmarking. I was actually talking about traditional bookmark implementations.

While we are on the subject of bookmarking, the buttons used for bookmarking services don’t look messy on my blog.

Sorry, I didn’t mean that about your blog! (In fact, I hadn’t noticed them, which is a tribute to how they aren’t messy!)

I meant things like the big Digg vote button you see on some sites.

Thanks for the reply – I appreciate it. :)

Each of these tips are very important factors. Whilst they appear quite obvious, they can be easily forgotten about.

I will definately note down this list and try to ensure I work to it when creating my own blog.

    Thanks for the info! :)
