I know some of you have been waiting to hear what the doctor had to say about my thyroid. I went to the clinic this evening to get my test results.
The doctor is sending me for more blood test to check my TSH levels and T4 levels. He said that while the decline in thyroid hormone levels may be hypothyroidism that their was not much of a change in thyroid levels that it left room for clinical error. I certainly have the symptoms of hypothyroidism, but he said that there were other diseases that had the same symptoms.
He also has me going for a cortisol test, as well as a pelvic and abdominal ultrasound. A cortisol test is done to measure the level of the hormone cortisol in the blood. Cortisol is a steroid hormone that helps the body react to physical and emotional stress. He has ordered the pelvic and abdominal ultrasound to check for an adrenal tumor. Once again, I will keep everyone posted.

Rose, you’ll be in my thoughts as you continue on with the tests. I know how frustrating it can become to have to endure test after test as doctors attempt to determine what is going on. Hang in there!
