This weeks Photo Hunters theme is childhood. I look back on my childhood and the childhood of my children with such fond memories. My son has just entered teenhood and it won’t be long and my daughter will be stepping into adulthood. Where do the years go?
“There are perhaps no days of our childhood we lived so fully as those we spent with a favorite book.” -Marcel Proust

A look at my son’s childhood. This photo was taken over a year and a half ago.
“There is always one moment in childhood when the door opens and lets the future in.” – Deepak Chopra

It’s hard to believe in just two years my daughter will be graduating from high school. It feels just like yesterday that she graduated from public school.
If you liked this post, why not buy me a coffee?

Oh I know, the years are passing by so quicky and I think we just need a minute to catch our breath…
Our daughter even came to me today and informed me she wants me to teach her how to drive and prepare her for the written test, yet it seems like only yesterday I taught her how to ride her first bike without the training wheels
Now our son has 1 year left of public school and he’s off to high school as well.
It wont be long they will be in university or college.. OMG where’s are check book…
Boy do we feel old!

Glad to see your son is a reader. A perfect childhood.

The time does go by quickly! My two have grown into beautiful adults in what seems like a blink of an eye! Enjoy every moment of their childhood, because before you know it, it’s gone! Now I comfort myself thinking about the childhood of the grandchildren that I will be blessed with someday in the distant future!
Nice take on the theme!

Thank goodness for photographs, because their childhood really does fly by so fast!

That is a really good idea, taking a photo of your son’s bookcase. In five years I’ll bet it will look totally different, and you’ll find yourself missing the younger version with all the stuffed animals!

Rose, I look at the photo I posted on my blog and think, “Oh, my God, what happened?” I don’t know how I went from being the mother of those 2 little guys to being the mother of the 2 guys who tower over me, have big deep voices, and shave!
It just goes too fast.

its great to see so many books on the shelves. Lately its not common that people read books which is a pity. My mom loves to read and from the very beginning I started to like books a lot, too. And I dont consider it as a waste of time.

My neice is graduating from UNIVERSITY! Geez. When did that happen?
I am having a birthday this month and I was fine with turning 40 a few years ago – very liberating! But then I realised this week that in 8 years I will hit 50! I’m too young in the head for that!
LOL.

Somewhat a similar post to mine. About books.
Also, it’s an ‘accomplishment’ for parents to see their children graduate and pursue a bright future.

Lovely! The memories are to be treasured, as you say, time passes faster than you can imagine.

My son is now 14, they do grow up fast. I know our time spent together will diminish. This is why I spend a lot of time fishing with him, to teach him those last few life lessons that will carry him forward well into life. I will miss those times, but I know it is a right of passage in the circle of life.

My Nyssa turned 21 just two weeks ago and now in one more year she will graduate from college and be off to who knows where for grad school. She keeps saying how she waited so long to be 21 and still can’t believe it. Neither can I. Feeling very old and empty nesty.

Ah, the beloved books.
My kids were more into teenage mutant ninja turtle figurines- sad to say.

I loved to read when I was a kid … I still do.
Thanks for stopping by mine

isn’t it true, the years pass by too quickly — I’ll be a great-uncle this September — my youngest nephew is 6′2″ with size 13 sneakers — can remember when he fit in my arms — childhood memories are precious I think.

Yes, kids grow up really fast…I know that I am talking about. Still remember the day I gave birth – our son will be 22 in June *sigh*

I did not do Photohunt this week, could not upload anymore photos, my computer is sadly overloaded and starting to act up.
Reading was one of two childhood loves for me, but our son did not develop my love of reading. Sad, I think. Yes, Rose, they grow up fast!

Children grow up so fast anymore and your daughter and son are lucky to have such great parents as you and Shawn too:)
