Deadbeat Dads and Moms on Pizza boxes?

March 26th, 2007 by Rose DesRochers · 16 Comments

Not only are they putting deadbeat dads and moms’ pictures on a website to embarrass them into paying their child support, but now when a deadbeat mom or dad orders a pizza at suburban pizza parlors in Cincinnati they might just be in for a surprise.

What is this? Deadbeat dads and moms who don’t pay child support photos on pizza boxes? Why not! They put missing kids on milk cartons . Why not put deadbeat parents on pizza boxes.

I heard about that this morning on the news. I think it’s a GREAT idea!!

At first glance, the idea is funny and serves the deadbeats right. BUT, if the purpose is to shame them into paying, I don’t think it would work. Deadbeat parents probably have no shame. In this case, the possible humiliation the children would feel should take precedence. But, I WOULD like to have one of those pizza boxes just for giggles.

I was thinking of blogging this too after I read it yesterday!

That lawyer who defends fathers’ rights said that this tactic was ‘horrible’ and that there are many reasons why these guys get behind on their payments and that doesn’t make them deadbeats. Yes, it does! If they had care of the child themselves they would have to find a way to support that child. It’s too easy to say ‘well, I just can’t afford it this month’ but that child still needs to eat. In the past, I have gone without many things so that my daughter is well and happy, but her father doesn’t seem to deny himself much of anything. Bailing on your payment means that someone else will have to take up the slack and that often means welfare.

I think it’s a great idea. If you’re a deadbeat, I think we should embarrass you.

There are many dead-bead parents that don’t want anything to do with their children either. Perhaps they should put the photos on bear cans too!!

Hey, Angela, good idea, there are more beer cans than pizza boxes, I would think. Rose, I’m not sure that many of them would be shamed into paying by any means, but it may work for the few, but then how will kids react to their parents being on pizza boxes, I mean down deep inside? Sure am glad you posted this. I missed it.

Thank you for the comments. I am one of the lawyers that called the tactic terrible and, although I understand the need to compel child suport payments, this tactic does little more than to harm the child.

What do you think should be done then Maury. Nothing else seems to be working. It seems to me kids are more interested in eating the pizza than looking at the pizza box and more kids don’t even know their sperm / egg donors anyway.

I think it is an excellent idea to put deadbeats parent on pizza box, I think there should be centralized web site in each state. I think there should be a weekly T. V. program to expose these beadbeat parents. (mom) & (dad).
Expose all the dirty assholes that they are. Who should pick up their slack? We all pay in the long run.

There was not one woman on these boxes folks. The Child Support offical responded when asked about that stated that “she knew there were some but it was just a simple oversight”.

It was all men….Thats why it was such a one-sided tactic and they only chose pizza shops which were female owned.

Smacks of a bit of misandry dont it.

I would have agreed with many of you if it had truly been PARENTS but it was not.

Rose the videos of Fathers For Justice asking the owners why they were doing this is on YouTube and Glenn Sacks has a video link off of his site where he debated the woman who set this up on National Television. She didnt have a good answer as to why.

I love the idea…as do my kids! But wish the court system could come up with someway that it isn’t up to the mother to have to be able to afford to pay for the lawyer..make to much for legal aide..not enough to afford a lawyer..doesn’t this fall under child rights? And I believe it should be any parent..(mom or dad) after all what message are they sending to the child…that they don’t matter?

Ps wish it was ok for us to post their pictures on a site somewhere so that anyone typing in their name to check them out would see it!
