It would have to be a both my maternal grandmother and my father. One taught me to be honorable and brave and the other taught me how to take care of others and overcome adversity.

Great question. I asked my husband and he said he has never had a real role model in his life, although he has had folks that he really respects.
I am like you in that I’ve had various people in my life that I’ve looked up to and admired. My two greatest role models have been a school teacher that I had for 4 years and a social worker I had in the orphange.

Great question! I’ve always looked up to my mother, as she’s always showed unconditional love to me and my brother. She’s a very patient woman who never speaks bad about anyone. I’ve learned to accept people for who they are, and what I really need to learn from her is to be happy with what I have. I’m learning now that I’m not working and not able to afford as much as I did when I had a paycheck, but she was a SAHM for over 20 years, and I’ve only been home for 2. She’s always been my inspiration!

I don’t think of any one person as a role model, although my parents set the bar for me on basic standards of life when I was little. Overall, I see role models for some part of my life in everyone. Though some are really the antithesis of role models, I learn from them what not to do, many times those people are as equal in importance to me as a true role model.

I’ve found that my choice of role models has changed over time. I guess it’s quite natural for our parents to be role models when we are younger; however, distance and time has led me to take up new role models for different stages of my life.
But then I wonder whether we really CHOOSE our role models…

..and it makes me think whether or not we need them…
