Saturday, March 24th 2007 is International Shut Down Day. This is an initiative to see how the world would cope if no one touched their computer for just one day. I will be participating and I ask you to join me. To read more about International Shut Down Day visit shutdownday.org. Can you go 24 hours without your computer?

I read about this last weekend.

I’ll be in school that morning and a play that afternoon and probably supper at a restaurant afterwards.

Thanks for reminding me about this. I totally forgot all about it. hehe.

But it should be fun, no need to check mail that day!

I was thinking of doing a trip or something since it’s finally warming up.

I plan to go shopping, watch a few movies and spend the day with the family. I hope everyone will post pics of how they spent their day.

I am signing up for it, but in all honesty, I looked to see what day of the week it was first. . . but I would do it anyway! I love your idea of posting photos of how we spend the day, Rose.

Interesting. I have a question: what about people who use computers to provide information to rape victims by answering emails daily and hourly? Or what about people whose jobs depend on computers?

The way we are depending on computers, many people already cannot give up computing. By the way, do you know any site online where one can find more information for this “geek” holiday?

Bes, the folks behind Shutdown Day are organizing shut down day on March 24th so people can step away from their computers. Visit shutdownday.org for more information. It’s simple: Make do without your computer for 24 hrs. So far 45, 083 have said they can survive for 24 hours without their computer.

    Christine, good to hear.
