During my absence from the blogosphere I spent a lot of time watching movies. Here is a list of 13 movies I have recently watched.
Smilla’s Sense of Snow -”Based on Peter Hoeg’s bestseller, this film is set in snowy Copenhagen where a small boy is found dead after he falls off a roof.”
One Hour Photo – Starring Robin Williams- ” An employee of a one-hour photo lab becomes obsessed with a young suburban family.”
Pearl Harbor- ” Pearl Harbor follows the story of two best friends, Rafe and Danny, and their love lives as they go off to join the war.’ A movie I can watch over and over.
Lost Junction- Starring Billy Burke and Neve Campbell – “A dangerous love affair, a lethal deception”
Little Man- “A wannabe dad (Shawn Wayans) mistakes a vertically challenged criminal on the lam (Marlon Wayans) as his newly adopted son.” – A very funny movie.
Missing in America- “A haunted Vietnam veteran (Danny Glover), living in exile in the forests of the Pacific Northwest, is faced with a life-changing decision after he is visited by a former platoon member (David Strathairn) and his young Amerasian daughter ( Zoe Weizenbaum). ” A very moving movie.
Serving Sara - “A process server (Matthew Perry)
tries to serve an elusive female target (Elizabeth Hurley).”
Pride & Predudice -”The story is based on Jane Austen’s novel about five sisters – Jane, Elizabeth, Mary, Kitty and Lydia Bennet – in Georgian England. Their lives are turned upside down when a wealthy young man (Mr. Bingley) and his best friend (Mr. Darcy) arrive in their neighborhood. Written by Marcy Gomez.” Excellent movie!
BraveHeart-”William Wallace, a commoner, unites the 13th Century Scots in their battle to overthrow English rule.” – One of the most powerful movies I have seen.
The River King- “Abel Grey (Edward Burns) is sent to investigate the death of a boy from an exclusive local school, who is found floating in the river.”
Bee Season - Starring Richard Gere, Juliette Binoche, Flora Cross, Max Minghella, and Kate Bosworth. “A wife and mother begins a downward emotional spiral, as her husband avoids their collapsing marriage by immersing himself in his 11 year-old daughter’s quest to become a spelling bee champion.” - Surprisingly, I did not like the movie.
The Night Listener- Robin Williams, Toni Collette, Joe Morton, Bobby Cannavale and Rory Culkin – “In the midst of his crumbling relationship, a radio show host (Robin Williams) begins speaking to his biggest fan, a young boy, via the telephone. But when questions about the boy’s identity come up, the host’s life is thrown into chaos.” - Sigh, another movie that I would not recomend renting.
The Guardian -”A high school swim champion with a troubled past enrolls in the U.S. Coast Guard’s “A” School, where legendary rescue swimmer Ben Randall teaches him some hard lessons about loss, love, and self-sacrifice.” – Great Movie! This is one that I recomend seeing.

The Night Listener may not have been a good movie….but the book was great!

Out of the movies you’ve listed, I’ve seen two.
I’m not a big movie watcher, I don’t guess! Most recently, I’ve seen The Number 23 in the theater. Not one I’d want to see again and again, but I thought it was a good movie.
Happy TT, and thanks for stopping by my blog!

Did you read Bee Season? It was intriguing, fascinating, disturbing, bizarre… I just couldn’t see how they made it into a movie. I should probably rent it just to see what they did with certain elements…
Otherwise, I’ve seen so few of these, I should be ashamed. I’m in a phase in my life where I’d rather read; what can I say?

I am so behind in my movie-watching. Hard to do with a 19 mos old. Did watch “Flushed Away” – by the same group that did Shrek. Very cute and very funny. Welcome Back.

I surprised myself by watching One Hour Photo–and I really liked it. Robin Williams can get serious.

Rose, I have to admit I watch few movies because I avoid all graphic violence and I consider most violence in modern movies graphic. My husband he is an avid movie viewer, I let him see them first. I don’t think he has seen all of these yet. Thanks for choosing this as your list.

I’ve seen most of them. The Guardian and Pride and Predjudice, are my favorites. Since my husband’s name is William, he can do a pretty good impression of William Wallace. I need a box of tissues to watch BraveHeart. I agree with you I couldn’t get into NightListener, that I would not recommend. We just finished watching The Departed with a whole cast of great actors. The story was good, but in my opionion had way too much graphic violence, and way overdone on the profanity. I wouldn’t recommend it either, even though I’m sure it’ll be up for some awards.
Glad to see you back!
