There use to be no way for a blogger using Google’s Blogger to block an individual from accessing their blog on Blogspot. The only bonus was that they could moderate comments, therefore putting some control into their hands.
Thanks to http://toolator.com/ban bloggers using Blogger can now block someone who is being abusive from accessing their blog.
The site allows you to generate a code that will ban a user from your blog. Once you have generated the code simply ad it to the template of your blog. You will need to know the IP of the user that you wish to ban. Be sure that you don’t ban your own Ip.
Please note that you cannot ban those using AOL, because they are on a proxy ISP. If you ban someone on Aol, you will end up banning a network of users.

The only problem with banning IP addresses: really persistent users can simply change their IP addressing by renewing their IP, and getting a different IP address.
But this is still a great way to deter those people. It’s the really persistent ones that keep trying to ruin your life. hate those guys.

Typepad has a great feature for blocking IP addresses. Unfortunately I had to use it several times for unwanted visitors that left rude comments.

Ryan, you have your own website. You can ban someone using an .htaccess file. You would put deny from and then the user’s IP number. If you are using Cpanel you can do it right in there.
Ian, I agree with you.
Claire, it’s not over, but I choose to ignore her.
Barbara, it is such a shame that we have to use it. Sorry to hear that you have received unwanted comments.
yoshi just rebooting will not give them a new IP and I don’t think too many people will change IP hosts just to harass someone.
Shoshana my pleasure. Thank you for dropping by.

Dear webmaster,
thanks for posting an article on your website of the IP Blocker.
I`ve now made a better version so people can block an unlimet number of IP`s, they also have the abillity to redirect every inserted ip to a different url.
The members only have to place once the code into their website, they never have to changed it again because every change or add is done in a personal admin.
Thnx and grtz. Martin

Dear Rose
Thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge.
After being up for a year with no real issues, I’ve had to zap a misogynist little troll in his tracks. Thanks to you, I’ve dealt with the matter on the day.
Cheers to you and the folks at IP blocker.

@kapitannwel,
just visited your website and noticed that the code is functioning.
Only I don`t see my ipblocker-logo because it`s hidden behind the blogspot-toolbar.
That`s against our Terms.
If you and others don`t place the code as it should be (visible-logo) your accounts will be deleted.
Within a couple of weeks I`ll update the system so people can pay $ 5,- a month to use a non-logo-code

Im having a problem before, then i found out that you need to switch to classic template in order to save the javascript you need to paste from toolator, maybe someone can discuss further how to do this properly, so newbies like me won’t loose.
most people don’t want to go against TOS, but most people do not read them. so please help newbies like me.

Dear Rose and others,
within a couple of days/weeks I`m releasing a new version of the ip-address blocker. This new version will also include the opportunity of banning ip-ranges. Because the ip-address blocker was always a hobby for me and due to high costs I now must charge some money for this service.
But there`s also still a Free account available.
I hope you all will continuing having an account with us, free or payed. We know we have an unique service and hope we will keep growing with more accounts.
We now do have more than 1800 accounts. These accounts have a total of more than 8300 blocked ip-addresses.
The new version will be located on toolator.com
Old accounts will be automatically transfered to this new version as soon as it goes live.
Kind regards,
Martin
