In July of 2006, The Pew Internet & American Life Project published a survey of bloggers titled, A Portrait of the Internet’s New Storytellers. (PDF)
The report said that the Blogosphere was evenly divided between men and women.
Fifty-four percent of bloggers are under age 30, reported Pew, and 14 percent are between the ages of 50 and 64 and a tiny two percent are 65 and older. (What percentage do you fall in?)
55% blog publish under a pseudonym and interesting enough 46 % of bloggers blog under their real name.
Livejournal topped the list of blog sites with 13 % blogging there followed by MySpace with 9% and Blogger with 6%.
According to the survey 12 million Americans keep a blog.
Canadians read the most blogs.
Comscore Media Metrix conducted an analysis of the percentage of the online population that reads blogs. The analysis covered Canada, France, Spain, the US, the Netherlands, the UK, Italy and Germany. Among the eight countries examined in the study, Canadians were found to be the highest amount of blog readers with 58.2% reading blogs, followed by Spain at 51.4 %. The US ranked fifth in terms of the percentage of blog readers ranking in at 36.3%.
36.7 percent of Canadians use Window Live Spaces for blogging while 12.4 % of Americans use Blogger.
Report can be found at The Score: Blogs Gain Favor Worldwide.
I’m interested to know where my readership hails from, so tell me where are you reading my blog from and no one tell me their bathroom. I want to know what country you live in?

Hmmmm. Blogging from Chicago in the US of A. Evenly divided, eh? I’d still bet there’s more male lurkers than female and more female regular posters than male.
And if I’ve added correctly 1% of all bloggers use both their real names and a pseudonym. Just to confuse the issue.

Interesting…
Blogging from Michigan, U.S.A. by the way..
I use my real name (though at times I cringe as I click the “enter” key…) , Wordpress to publish, most of my readers I do not know personally (other than through the blog), and I believe there has only been one male to ever comment on my blog… Not sure the reason for this though.. LOL
Great post Rose..
