No good deed goes unpunished. Sayings like this teach us the wrong things but then you have people proving this saying to be correct over and over again.

Just do what you know is right and either people get it or they don't but at least YOU will know you did the right thing.

Very nice poem. It is very true, sadly enough. Just last night I gave my daughter an early Christmas present, and although she was excited I noticed she never even said thank you, and I was kind of crushed by that. I mean we have always pushed please and thank you, and so I would expect her to say it all on her own without a reminder by now. Perhaps she was just too excited and forgot...

Why are people so ungrateful??

They have been taught to be that way.

This is a tough question and I think is best anwered through our own eyes after we take a good hard long look at ourselves. We are all a little guilty of ungratefulness in one way or another. We chose to pick at anothers faults because we actually see them. None of us are perfect and if we were then there would be no need for questions such as this. I have no answer to eradicate ungratefulness but we can all ease it a little by thanking the Good Lord each morning for the gift of life. Thank You for listening to me and may God Bless You All, Paul

Even Christmas is involved and dragged into the greedy status. In too many cases, it's all about what you can get instead of give. God gave his son to the world. It should be all about giving but sadly it's not. And, yes, once some people get something, they want more and more.
