Light a Candle for the Children – For my Daughter

December 10th, 2006 by Rose DesRochers · 7 Comments

Light a Candle at 7PM for all children who have died.

Christmas can be extremely difficult time for families who are mourning the death of a child. Believe me, I know. 14 years ago I was mourning the death of my daughter Katie.

“The Compassionate Friends Worldwide Candle Lighting unites family and friends around the globe as they light candles for one hour to honor and remember children who have died at any age from any cause. ”

Tonight please light a candle in memory of my daughter Katie DesRochers and for all the children taken from this world too soon. You can also post a message to the compassionate friends remembrance book.

To find out more information about Compassionate Friends Worldwide Candle Lighting and to find a local candle lighting event in your area visit The Compassionate Friends national Web site at compassionatefriends.org.

Tonight I hope that you’ll join me in lighting a candle for all the children that are no longer with us.

    Rose and Shawn,

The tragedy that your family had to go thru is heartbreaking. And my thoughts are with you. I cannot say that I have never lost a child. It was only in different circumstances. I never got to see mine or hold mine. I do not know whether it was a male or a female. I just know that it was mine. It was alive, and it was taken away. That was 21 years ago and I still think about it all the time.
I have a six year old daughter now, she is the most precious thing to me in this whole world. I love her with all of my heart. I never want to lose her.
Sometimes our loved ones leave this world before we do. But one day when my time on earth is over, I shall see that child, that I have never seen before. And I know in my heart that I shall walk hand in hand with my family in heaven.
May God be with you during the holidays. And in your hearts, Katie’s candle shall shine, till you shall meet again.
