The New York Times reports previously-mentioned blog publishing software BookSmart. Bloggers are now able to publish their blogs in print. Blurb BookSmart™ software makes it easy for anyone to turn their blog into a hard cover bookstore-quality book.
The software is free to use. You only pay upon publishing. BookSmart will be offering templates for cookbooks, photobooks, portfolios, pet books and baby books as well.
I personally found them a little costly considering what a hardcover book retails for, but some of my fellow writers say that they are cheap compared to some of the pod publishers out there.
Jeffrey Goldfarb Reuters reporter states, “Bloggers are scoring rich paydays by turning their online diaries into books, but some publishers say the craze could fizzle out with a glut of new titles destined to yield disappointing sales.”
Would you ever consider turning your blog into a book?

That’s interesting, to say the least. I would imagine sales and marketing would be a problem, too. But it’d be neat to have a hard cover book of one’s work.

Whilst Booksmart looks like a good tool to have a book printed, I have had nothing but trouble with the software (repeated system lockups) and unfortunately Blurb’s customer support have all but ignored my requests for assistance. For now, I have chosen NOT to recommend Booksmart. The blurb team need to sharpen up their act and rememeber that it is customers that make a product successful. At the moment they seem to not care about the end users.
