Monday I received an email from Sean Howard. Sean is on the board of KINSA (Kids Internet Safety Association) and he was hoping that I could help him raise awareness for a Safer Internet Day initiative. Sean found my blog through a search and apparently was quit taken by it. Upon viewing the Kinsa website, it wasn’t long before I was signing an on-line petition which calls for the declaration of February 7th as “Safer Internet Day”. Canadians- We need your help
Please take a moment to sign this on-line petition which calls for the declaration of February 7th as “Safer Internet Day”. We hope the Canadian Parliament will make this declaration and dedicate that day’s government business to finding ways to make the internet safer for kids.
So far, 37 countries and over 100 not-for-profit organizations and corporations endorse “Safer Internet Day” where the issues of Internet safety are discussed in Parliaments, in the media, and among concerned citizens. Canada and the US are surprisingly absent from this list.
To sign the petition, please click on the following link:Creating a safer Internet.
To find our more about KINSA (or to help our cause with a donation), please click on the following link: www.kinsa.net
Please blog about the petition and send it to your friends and family. Together we can make the internet safer for children. I’ve done my part, won’t you do yours?

Hi Rose.
Thank you SO much for helping to support a safer Internet for kids.
You’ve done a lot already based on what I’ve read in your blog and we really appreciate you helping to spread the word on this initiative.

Sean, it is my pleasure and thank you so much for contacting me.
I was sadden to hear that Paul Gillespie retired, but I was glad to hear that you have men such as Paul working with you at KINSA.
Susan will be in touch with you.
Thank you Sean for dropping by my blog and for doing your part to make the Internet safer for kids.

Al our concern is with Internet luring and child exploitation. I don’t think that too many kids are reading Dear Al. I know that my children are not reading your blog as I monitor their activity like all parents should. Thank you for stopping in.
