Thanks to all those who replied! According to studies, if you drink a 2-liter bottle of pop, you instantly gain 4.4 pounds. If you drink a lot of pop a weight change can happen rather fast. I’m experiencing water retention and the accompanying weight gain that comes with it. The specialist that I saw recommended that I stay away from soft drinks and salt. Therefore I think that there is some truth in the study!

Interesting. Makes me glad I only drink water, and occasionally coffee, tea or juice. I gave up soft drinks a few years ago.

I think it has more to do with the supa-sized fries and burger they have with their diet coke, while at McDonald's, than the diet coke itself! ;-)

So the study actually had people starting to drink the diet soft drink and then gain wait? I must admit my first reaction that it just could be that more of the people who drink the diet varieties may be a bit heavier than those who don't. But if there's a causal link there ..... wow. A surprise.
