I’d guess that much of the blogosphere would agree with me on this one. I think it’s extremely rude when someone visits a blog and does not comment on the topic at hand.
Dear Mr or Ms Blogger,
The comment section of my blog is for comments related to my blog. Would you be as kind not to use it for self promotion purposes only or to ask me questions related to your blog. I mean, it’s bad enough that I have to delete comment spam. I now have to delete the comments of individuals who have not bothered to read a damn thing that I wrote. I have no intentions of publishing your comments; therefore you’ve wasted your time and my time. Can you sense my frustration? Comments about my blog or even worse, technical questions about your blog are to be emailed to me, not posted to my comment section.

This makes perfect sense. I understand your frustration, though I don’t blog.

That sounds fair enough, I think. ITo me comments are a bit like a Q & A session or a chance to let the author know what you think so I think that other things are often misplaced there. Especially when you can email those other queries and concerns.
BTW, is that woman pulling out her brains?? That’s what it looks like to me

I think it’s stupid when someone uses a blog as a message board. Really, if someone wants to say something off topic, a simple email or comment on Myspace will do!

Rose,
Can you please check out my blog and tell me that I am great.. please lol!
I had a great one the other day… It said - “can you please visit my blog and leave comments as I don’t get any”
Oh yeh - cheers for that.

if it bothers you to delete such comments, just ignore it…there are a lot of “illiterate” people all over the web…and the more you call their attention, the more they piss you off.

“I have no attentions of publishing your comments” nor do you have intentions of publishing… LOL.
These spam messages are done via scirpts and spam bots. Rarely a human bothers and they will hit billions of sites each hour. They are after the page rank the link brings.
search my blog on Spam and o chongq for more.

Is Mr. Mistype king correcting my improper use of attentions? Thank you for correcting that. Oh those Commonly Misused Words. Accept- Except…. Attentions- Intentions…. Too-To….Adapt-adopt…….Affect-effect……..Ugggggggg
Girlie, I believe that it would bother you too if you were deleting with 30 + comments of comment spam a day and then had to deal with comments that are nothing, but self promotional.
RM, perhaps she is pulling out her brain and she plans to serve it to her family for dinner.:)

i can understand your frustration. Some of the people who do these frustrating things may be new to this world of blogging and just not really know yet. Come to think of it when I started my blog I asked a girl (who had music on her site) for advice on how to put windows media player on my site. She was a huge help and didn’t mind. I didn’t realize at the time that my off topic comment may be a problem for the author of the blog.I’ve had some very weird off topic comments. I think most of them are spam.

Hello Lindz, you are correct! Many times it is a lack of knowledge. I was venting in this post because people kept doing it. LOL
Ps: I always do end up helping them.
