My father passed away when I was eighteen. The last years of his illness, I remember his determination to fight the cancer that was taking his life. He lived each day with a reborn faith in God. One that I never understood until my mother took ill.
Though he’s not here today, I hear his voice saying, “I told you so.”
As the advice my father gave me throughout those eighteen years was dead on. Now that I’m a grown woman with children of my own, I see my father in a different light.
If there a reason for me to smile today, it is for the memory of a strong man- one who wanted the best for me- the man who gave me life. While my Father gave me life- my husband saved my life. I cannot picture my life without Shawn in it.
Some women are blessed with the love of two good man- I’m blessed with having the love of two.
To my male readership who are fathers, Happy Fathers’ Day!
Rose

Your father was a great man. I know this because I see all the kindness in you. He is smiling down from Heaven at you. He’d be very proud of his daughter.
Shawn too is a great guy. You and Shawn have a love that’s forever my friend.

‘Tis a day to remember the good times - that is the way your father would want it. Toast to him, and smile.

I’m glad we have been both blessed with wonderful fathers. Today I got him a Father’s Day card, and he showed it off to the whole family like I’d just given him gold. Actually, I gave him something better than gold; I gave him love. And your dad feels your love, too.

Funny how that ‘I told you so’ changes tone in our ears as we grow older. Good fathers are indeed a blessing.
