Be Prepared to Cringe

Be prepared to cringe in agony as you look at this photo.

Shawn DesRochers Arm

This is a picture of my husband’s arm, three days after surgery.

My husband recently underwent surgery in an attempt to relieve numbness in all four of his fingers and regain mobility and feeling to his hand.

It had got to the point where his entire hand was cold and numb.

The surgeon has informed us that he may not regain feeling. He said that it’s really too soon to tell. Neither Shawn nor the doctor can determine how the damage to the alner nerve occurred in the first place.

Well I have been praying for Shawn’s arm to heal because I want him to be back to 100% and I can only imagine the pain he has been in God bless him and your whole family because you are amazing people and I care about you ((HUGS))

Do show us another picture as the healing continues. I am not keeping this picture in my mind but one of an arm whole and healed. To me, that is also a prayer.

I really hope that Shawn’s arm heals quickly and he starts to regain feeling. My father has had carpel tunnel surgery in both wrists/hands and it took a while for him to actually see positive results and improvement.

I hope that your husband is recovering. That is a nasty photo. It’s like a car wreck, I don’t want to look but I can’t bring myself to look away.

Hi. I have the same scar on my arm i broke my funny bone August 2006 and they had to move my alner nerve. I have no feeling in my baby finger or the right side of my ring finger til i get above my wrist bone. I recently had an MGI ( i think thats what it was called) and it was a horrible painful experience) this was just to find out that it has been pinched or isnt connected properly. Im wondering if your husband has any hope of regaining the feeling back in his hand. My finger feels like a dagger is being stabbed through it and is cold.

Im just hoping to hear that there is hope of the feeling coming back and if something can be done.

DEFINITLY looking forward in going back to my orthopedic surgeon after i had that MGI test.

I should also advise you that my doctor told me that the nerve grows back an inch per month, but after time progressed depending on where the problem is it could take a long time and as time grows longer you lose more and more of the muscle and it might not work again. Im not very educated on this topic yet but hope to be as my time progresses. Have you heard anything like i just mentioned because i may have misunderstood since i was a bit emotional after the nerve tests they did.

My husband has not regained any feeling in his hand and the doctors are highly doubtful that he will. The good thing is that he can use it. From time to time he still experiences pain. I’m sorry to hear of your condition.
